6.4 Properties of Soil and Structure Elements

The parameters for the Modified Cam-clay model were k (slope of swelling line in e-ln p space), l (slope of virgin compression line in e-In p space), f'(effective angle of internal friction of soil, kx (horizontal permeability of soil) and ky (vertical permeability of soil ). These were obtained from a series of odometer and triaxial tests conducted on remoulded soil samples. The soil properties of the upper Singapore marine clay layer used in the analyses are tabulated in Table 6.1. These parameters are in general agreement with published data for Singapore marine clay as shown in Table 3.3.

The diaphragm wall and upper slabs in the analyses were modelled using the same material, that is, a linear elastic material with E' = 20 * 106 kN/m2, nกฏ = 0.25, and unit weight of 24.0 kN/m3 as shown in Table 6.1.
